Bold Predictions

Bold All-Time: 0-7.

Bold 2013: 0-3.

March 11: The San Antonio Spurs will finish the regular season at 65-17, the overall #1 seed in the NBA Playoffs (when prediction was made the Spurs were 49-15, one half game behind the Miami (47-14) for the top record in the NBA).

Reality: WRONG. The Spurs finished the regular season at 58-24, the #2 seed in the Western Conference.

March 7: Anzhi will advance to Europa League quarterfinals, Russian Cup semifinals and win the Russian Premier League (when prediction was made Anzhi were in Europa League Round of 16, 0-0 on aggregrate with Newcastle United, with return leg in Newcastle-upon-Tyne upcoming; qualified for Russian Cup quarterfinals, where they faced Dynamo Moscow on April 17 in Makhachkala; 2nd in Premier League, two points behind CSKA, with 11 matches to go).

Reality: WRONG. Anzhi lost to Newcastle United in the Europa League round of 16, advanced to the Russian Cup final and finished 3rd in the Russian Premier League.

January 3: Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the top 4 of the English Premier League (when prediction was made Spurs were 3rd in the league with 39 points).

Reality: WRONG. Tottenham Hotspur, despite earning 72 points, more than other 5th-place club in EPL history, finished one point behind London rivals Arsenal in the race for a Champions League berth.

Bold 2012: 0-4.

May 28: The Cincinnati Reds will win the National League Pennant (when prediction was made the Reds were 27-21 and in 1st place in the National League Central).

Reality: WRONG. The Reds won the Central Division, but lost in five games to the San Francisco Giants in the National League Divisional Series.

May 1: The Spurs will not lose in the Western Conference Playoffs (prediction made following the Spurs Game 1 victory over the Utah Jazz in the conference quarterfinals).

Reality: WRONG. The Spurs won ten straight to open the playoffs, before losing four straight to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

April 23: Anzhi will win its final four matches of the Russian Premier League season.

Reality: WRONG. Anzhi went 2-1-1, defeating Lokomotiv 3-1 and Rubin 3-1, while drawing to Kuban 2-2 and losing to Zenit 2-0.

April 16: The Reds will sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in their three-game series in St. Louis, April 17-19.

Reality: WRONG. The Reds won 1 of 3 games (1-2, 1-11, 6-3).
